Here are some highlighted events in the Pikes Peak region in the next few weeks

The animals and views at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo get plenty of kids so excited that they have to run. Adults can bring their inner child back out this weekend by running through the zoo and up to the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun.

The four-mile Run to the Shrine is a popular annual tradition in Colorado Springs, and it offers the only opportunity to travel the breathtaking road to the shrine by foot. The course offers runners and walkers views of Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods.
It also is an important fundraiser for the Zoo.
The Saturday event is sold out, but a few spots remain for the Sunday run.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo also hosts two adult events in June. During the June 9 event, adults 21 and up can enjoy a beverage, take a private evening zoo tour and meet an animal ambassador. Registration is required.
Moonlight on the Mountain
On June 29, the zoo hosts a 21-plus libations festival. Attendees can enjoy all-inclusive samples of beer, wine, spirits and coffee and taste food from area restaurants. Local musicians also will perform during the event, and the Sky Ride will be open.
On May 31, the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum hosts a dinner with Olympic champion Apolo Ohno. The speed skater is the most decorated winter Olympian in American history. He helped craft a three-course meal with Chef Will Halterman, and will conduct a Q&A session after dinner. Admission tickets also include a signed copy of Ohno’s book.
Manitou Springs hosts 30 Colorado wineries on June 3 for one of the first libations festivals of the summer season. The event in Memorial Park includes unlimited tastings from local and regional Colorado wineries, live music, food trucks, and more.
The following weekend, the Chapel of our Saviour Episcopal Church hosts a charitable and family-friendly beer festival. More than 40 businesses will pour beer, spirits and wine. Several breweries also host a pre-festival beer tour that highlights classic styles from the days of St. Arnold, a 7th century bishop and father of French Christendom who was canonized for the miracle of providing a bottomless mug of beer for thirsty and desperate congregants.
The festival also includes food, live music and kids activities. Proceeds benefit Westside CARES, which serves 29,000 people with food, clothing, transportation, financial assistance and more.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday in June, a special Sunday brunch with mimosas is hosted among the flowers at Venetucci farm. After brunch, attendees can stroll the flower fields and cut a beautiful bouquet to bring home.
From June 16 to 18, the Western Museum of Mining & Industry hosts a Celtic festival, with world champion Irish dancers, the Western United States Pipe Band Association, and Celtic rock bands, as well as food and other activities.
The Rocky Mountain State Games is billed as Colorado’s largest multi-sport festival for athletes of all ages and athletic abilities, including those with physical disabilities, visual impairments, and intellectual or developmental disabilities.
