National comedy tour stops in Colorado this month, plus more stand-up in taprooms
By the Thirst Team
Palisade and Mosca may not have their own comedy clubs, but the small Colorado towns will each draw some national touring comedians this month.
This weekend, the Winery Comedy Tour stops at Sauvage Spectrum Winery in Palisade. And next Friday, Feb. 28, the Distillery Comedy Tour hits the Dune Valley Distillery in Mosca (near the Great Sand Dunes).
Both tours are organized by Herron Entertainment, a veteran-owned talent agency that helps touring comics get in front of new audiences while helping craft drinks businesses draw crowds.
When Herron’s tours are not in Colorado, there are plenty of other ways to laugh while enjoying libations. Here is a sampling:
Denver Comedy Lounge
Colorado’s only sake brewery is also the only craft libations maker in Denver with a dedicated comedy club. The Denver Comedy Club is in the back of the Colorado Sake Co.’s RiNo tasting room. It also offers 12 sakes on tap, hard cider, cocktails and an “izakaya” menu of Japanese pub food, including sushi, tacos, gyoza and more.
Weekly events include the Friday Night Standup Showcase at 7 and 9 p.m., the Saturday Night Standup Showcase at 6 and 8 p.m., and the late-night Saturday Naughty Comedy Showcase at 10 p.m.
On Thursday, the next Seth Meyers might be taking the stage for the next installment of “Finally Some Bad News,” where comedians tell late-night monologue-style jokes about current events. Next Tuesday, Feb. 25, the club hosts a comedy roast of cryptocurrency.
Rotating Tap Comedy
In 2019, Denver comedian Steve Vanderploeg expanded a comedy night at Chain Reaction Brewing into an acclaimed touring showcase for comedians with national TV exposure, as well as rising local comics.
Rotating Tap books one to three shows per week, and has expanded into other states. Upcoming local stops include Landlocked Ales on Friday, Little Machine Beer on Saturday, FlyteCo Tower on Feb. 28, and Comrade Brewing on March 1.
Queer Beers Comedy Night
On Thursday, Cerebral Brewing hosts drag music bingo at its original Congress Park taproom, and a queer comedy showcase at 6:30 p.m. at its Aurora Arts locations. Hannah Jones, a Denver comic with 30 million TikTok and Instagram video views, will headline. Jeremy Cash and Ren Q also will perform, and proceeds benefit the Transgender Center of the Rockies.
There are only a few more days to get tickets to the Comedy Show happening here on February 22nd! Tickets are $20 (cash only) and include two drinks (beer, wine, or well). You can get them from the bartender in the taproom or reserve some by sending maretta@florencebrewing.com an email.
Bohemian Boys Comedy in Florence
Florence Brewing Company in southern Colorado (near Cañon City) hosts a Bohemian Boys Comedy show on Saturday night. Tickets are $20 (cash only) and include two drinks (beer, wine, or well). Buy them from the bartender in the taproom or reserve tickets at maretta@florencebrewing.com.
Ratio Comedy Show
Ratio Beerworks hosts a free comedy show every Wednesday night in the RiNo taproom. Headliners rotate every week, but it’s always hosted by “Welcome to Denver” podcast host Cory Helie, Comedy Works headliner Matt Cobos and his “Cobos Patrick Podcast” co-host Patrick Richardson.
