They took over the Jagged Mountain spot and reopened the space as Full Frame Beer in February.
The downtown location, at 20th and Lawrence Street, is less than two blocks from Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox, the Marquis Theater and Herb’s. More importantly, starting next week, it is an ideally located watering hole for thirsty Rockies fans on their way to Coors Field.
Hoberer and Kemple had planned to take over the former Alpine Dog location on 17th Street, but the deal fell through. Instead, they were able to quickly turn around the Jagged Mountain spot. They refinished the tables, removed all the woodsy loggerman decor, added a photobooth and decked the bar in a mural.
Full Frame has several house beers on tap, and has been adding a new brew every Friday, including a corn lager and an IPA in the last two weeks. They also already have several collaborations on tap.
Options include two double hazy IPAs, one with Milieu Fermentation and another with Denver Beer Co. Full Frame also made a cold IPA with Public Offering Brewing Co,; a Belgian with nearby Woods Boss Brewing Co.; a Japanese rice lager with Los Dos Potrillos; and an orange chocolate stout with Monolith.
They had fingers crossed that all the brews would be ready in time for the Feb. 28 opening.
“We took a gamble and we said ‘this is when we are going to open,” and it all worked out perfectly,” Kemple said.
The collaborations continue, with two Full Frame projects on tap at the upcoming Collab fest. Full Frame brewed a “neighborhood” Dortmunder with Great Divide Brewing Co. and Ratio Beerworks. A handful of breweries will work on a group brew with the other “Stuck Mashies,” an active SnapChat group of Denver brewers.
Hoberer and Kemple said the collaborations will keep flowing.
“Jacob and I, being in the industry so long, we have known so many people throughout the years, it’s something we want to do and focus on,” Hoberer said.
Full Frame also is making seltzer cocktails with a house-brewed 10-percent ABV seltzer. They started with a margarita and plan to expand the menu.
The coffee shop in the brewery will reopen once the permits are in place. Full Frame also plans to add food options and will can their beer on the Our Mutual Friend system.
Full Frame also is looking for investors through a WeFunder campaign that allows small investors to buy an equity share in the business.
Baseball crowds can raise a glass for the 2025 Rockies home opener at Full Frame. By the end of the season, fans may need another Full Frame beer after a game to drown the sorrows of a losing record. But for now, before the games begin, hope springs eternal.
